Vernissage: Thursday, April 23 at 7.30 pm

Linienscharen ist eine Plattform für zeitgenössische Zeichnung, die im Herbst letzten Jahres in Stuttgart gegründet wurde. Alle feat. arrangierte Ehen zeigt nun erstmals Zeichnungen der teilnehmenden KünstlerInnen. Die Ausstellung der Linienscharen-ZeichnerInnen ist jedoch nicht als klassische Gruppenausstellung gedacht. Die Arbeiten werden als Konvolut gezeigt. Die Namen der beteiligten KünstlerInnen werden zwar genannt, aber nicht den Zeichnungen zugeordnet. Der/die Einzelne tritt zugunsten der Zeichnung in ihren unterschiedlichen Erscheinungsformen in den Hintergrund. Parallel dazu werden, von wechselnden Linienscharen-Mitgliedern ausgesucht, auf einer weiteren Wand täglich neue Zeichnungs-Paare gehängt. Diese Paar-Hängung ermöglicht, bestimmte Aspekte von Zeichnung zu fokussieren. Zudem zeigen sich in der wechselnden Auswahl bzw. Hängung auch die unterschiedlichen Perspektiven der ZeichnerInnen, die die Papierarbeiten ihrer KollegInnen täglich neu aussuchen.

How does the world work? For several years, Tobias Hülswitt has been asking people to explain the world to him. Büro Achter April has turned one of these theories into an animated short film titled “Undercurrents”. Five other internationally renowned animation artists will be interpreting some of the other theories live at Strzelski Galerie on 23 February 2013. Three of Hülswitt’s interviewees will also be on hand to present their explanations of the world and visitors are invited to take part in short interviews and share their thoughts on the subject.

Wie funktioniert sie, die Welt? Seit einigen Jahren sammelt Tobias Hülswitt die Welterklärungen der Leute. Mit dem animierten Kurzfilm ‚Undercurrents’ hat Büro Achter April eine dieser Theorien künstlerisch umgesetzt. Fünf weitere international bekannte Animationskünstler skizzieren am 23.02.2013 in der Strzelski Galerie live ihre zeichnerischen Assoziationen zu weiteren Welterklärungen. Daneben erläutern drei Welterklärer ihre Theorien. Besucher können die Sammlung in kurzen Interviews um ihre eigene Welterklärung ergänzen.

"Undercurrents" our new short.

The film is based on a series of interviews collected by Tobias Hülswitt. He asked different people to explain, how the world works and they came up with the broadest variety of answers. "Undercurrents" by Norman Morris was one of the first contributions.

"Undercurrents" basiert auf einer Reihe von Interviews, die Tobias Hülswitt zusammengetragen hat. Er fragte verschiedene Menschen ihm zu erklären, wie die Welt funktioniert. Die Antworten könnten unterschiedlicher nicht ausfallen. "Undercurrents" von Norman Morris war einer der ersten Beiträge.

"BLINDNESS" by Max & Laura Braun

We are happy to announce our new video for Max & Laura Braun.
The Album "Telltale" will be released 28.09.2012 via Arctic Rodeo Recordings.

Alt folk singer songwriter duo Max & Laura Braun are siblings. Born in Germany, they started making music together in their early teenage years. But life has since separated them. While Max stayed in Germany, Laura up and left in the late 90s to make London her home. During the following years they only occasionally managed to play and sing together.

Finally however, in the rainy late summer of 2008 this changed. Max & Laura spent a few days in one of their favourite places, a little village in Dorset, England, writing their first new songs again after almost 10 Years. The songs that emerged from this trip, called the "Dorset Songs" were recorded shortly afterwards as a demo and marked the beginning of Max & Laura Braun as a solid musical project. Since then Max and Laura have written more and more songs, have acquired a band and started gigging in Germany as well as in the UK.

Their music has grown, darker, fuller and more diverse in it’s influences since those simple Dorset Songs. Percussive drumming, melodic bass lines and shimmering pedal steel sounds ad facets beyond folk to Max and Laura’s guitar playing and vocals that sit together so smoothly like perhaps only those of a brother and sister can.

In late 2011 Max & Laura recorded their first full length album “Telltale” with their band in the little village of Plüderhausen near their home town of Stuttgart in Germany. It is a collection of songs full of longing, melancholy and defiance which nonetheless carry an air of optimism leaving the listener with great warmth.

L’Alternativa 2012 - 19th Barcelona Independent Film Festival

ORPHEUS' PONY has been selected for screening in the non-competitive section Hall Screen, l’Alternativa proposes at l'Alternativa 2012- 19th Barcelona Independent Film Festival.

The Festival takes place from the 20th to the 25th of November at the Centre for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona.

The Hall Screen is a space that combines film screenings and presentations by filmmakers, distributors and curators. It is a section programmed thematically and one of its main characteristics is the discovery of new, unusual, investigative film and video.

UTS: Sydney International Animation Festival

ORPHEUS' PONY will be screened at Sydney International Animation Festival in the special category "poemetrics" curated by onedotzero.

The Festival will be held from October 12 until 14, 2012 in Sydney / Australia.
The screening of poemetrics will take place on Sunday 14th October, 2.45pm to 3.45pm at the University Hall

Poemetrics, is a series of shorts that look at a range of expressive moving image work from treated live action to animation via motion graphics based on or inspired by poetry or poetic texts as a starting point. These form a visual investigation of the words in poetic motion, enriching the meanings and enhancing the understanding. The programme has a variety of works that are entertaining, surprising and beautiful showing the combined power of moving image with poetry with thoughtful effect. This program has been specially curated by onedotzero and produced in partnership with Empac (experimental media + performing arts center) Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as part of the arts series called quote unquote: experiments in time­based text.

onedotzero in partnership with EMPAC (Experimental Media + Performing Arts Center)

ORPHEUS' PONY has been selected to take part on Poemetrics.

Poemetrics is a special programme that has been curated by onedotzero and produced in partnership with EMPAC (Experimental Media + Performing Arts Center) Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as part of their arts series called Quote Unquote: Experiments in Time-Based Text. The series looks at a range of time-based artists who have taken an existing text as a starting point, and used them to explode the concept of “script”, bringing to life works that embed language into music, film, theater, dance, interactive sculpture, and lectures.

As part of the series onedotzero has been invited to create poemetrics - a 60 minute programme of short films and animations that have used poetry and other texts as the basis for the script.

The premiere screening of poemetrics will take place on Thursday 19 April 2012 at 7pm

The venue is EMPAC is based in Troy, New York state.

Finn, a family man, finally gets a chance to go on a space mission. Nevertheless, it is a hard decision because he will be gone for years. During the prestart test period strange phenomenons occur in his state of mind. Suddenly Finn finds himself in space, carrying out his scientific work on a distant moon. Those flashbacks increase over time until Finn is not able to differentiate anymore what is reality and what is illusion.

Als der Astronaut Finn (Benjamin Grüter) die Nachricht erhält auf eine lang ersehnte Mission ins All zu reisen, beginnt sich sein Geisteszustand allmählich zu verändern. Immer wieder wird sein Verstand von alptraumartigen Sinnestäuschungen seiner bevorstehenden Weltraummission heimgesucht und die Grenzen zwischen Wirklichkeit und Vision verschwimmen zunehmend. Auch seine Frau Maja (Bettina Kurth) und ihr kleiner Sohn Noah (Maximilian Heim) werden zum willkürlichen Spielball der mysteriösen Vorgänge.

Büro Achter April Workshop @ Fest Anča 2011

Who told you can’t play with food?
Stop motion is one of the oldest techniques in animation. And in this workshop we will break with one of the oldest rules we learned as children: “don’t play with your food!”
The workshop will deal with the cinematic portrayal of objects within a storyline. All you need is a digital camera and a lot of “off-the-plate” ideas.

Stop-Motion ist eine der ältesten Techniken im Trickfilm. Und mit einen der ältesten Grundsätze, die unsere Eltern uns eingetrichtert haben, werden wir bei diesem Workshop brechen: "...mit Essen spielt man nicht!"
Bei dem Workshop beschäftigen wir uns mit der filmischen Inszenierung von Objekten und versuchen eine Geschichte damit zu erzählen. Alles was ihr braucht ist eine digital Kamera und einen Kopf voller abgefahrener Ideen.

On November 1, 2010, our customer pro aurum opened a new subsidiary in Dresden. The leading precious metals trader in Europe’s German speaking countries commissioned Büro Achter April with the task of adapting the company’s Munich gold exhibit, which was completed in the fall of 2009 in the Bavarian capital.

Zum ersten November 2010 eröffnet unser Kunde pro aurum eine neue Niederlassung in Dresden. Die im deutschsprachigen Raum führenden Edelmetallhändler beauftragten Büro Achter April mit einer Adaption ihrer Firmenausstellung zum Thema Gold, die von uns im Herbst 2009 in München fertig gestellt wurde.

red dot communication design 2010

pro aurum’s company exhibit in Munich-Riem receives a coveted red dot communication design 2010 award.

With more than 13,000 entries in its disciplines “red dot award: product design”, “red dot award: communication design” and “red dot award: design concept”, the red dot design award is the leading and biggest design competition in the world. Since 1955, the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen has annually selected outstanding design quality and officially honoured it in an exhibition.

On 8 December 2010, all award-winners will be honoured at the festive awards presentation in the gala hall of the Casino Zollverein in Essen, Germany. On the same night, the vernissage of the exhibition “Design on stage – winners red dot award: communication design 2010” will take place at the red dot design museum in Essen. The special exhibition featuring all prize-winning works will be on display from 9 December 2010 to 9 January 2011.

Der red dot design award ist mit über 13.000 Einsendungen in seinen Disziplinen „red dot award: product design“, „red dot award: communication design“ und „red dot award: design concept“ der führende und größte Designwettbewerb weltweit. Seit 1955 wird herausragende Designqualität jährlich vom Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen ausgewählt und in einer Ausstellung offiziell gewürdigt. 

Alle Gewinner werden im Rahmen einer stilvollen Preisverleihung am 8. Dezember 2010 in der Galahalle des Casino Zollverein in Essen geehrt. IF communication design award 2010

pro aurum’s company exhibit in Munich-Riem receives a coveted IF communication design award.

A total of 1,687 entries were submitted to this year’s iF communication design award. The jury presented the coveted iF label 499 times to 480 entries. The top 30 entries, the iF gold awards, will be announced at the awards ceremony at BMW Welt in Munich on September 3.

We are exceptionally pleased to be counted among the award recipients.

Zum diesjährigen iF communication design award wurden insgesamt 1.687 Beiträge angemeldet. Die Jury vergab 499 Mal das begehrte iF Label an 480 Beiträge – 20 Beiträge wurden in unterschiedlichen Kategorien mehrfach ausgezeichnet. Die 30 Besten des Wettbewerbs, die iF gold awards, werden am 3. September im Rahmen der Preisverleihung in der BMW Welt in München bekannt gegeben.

The interior space and interactive exhibition for the new headquarters of pro aurum GmbH and Co. KG in Munich were designed and implemented by Büro Achter April, in conjunction with Andreas Mantz, mantz design konstruktion.

One of the leading European companies in precious metals trading, and numismatic coins, pro aurum has clearly defined new architectural standards with its new space.

Structure, form, and high quality materials harmonize sucessfully to convey both reliability and modernity through design. The new space allows for discretion, yet also a clear orientation with its clean lines and bold spatial elements.

Büro Achter April konzipiert und realisiert in Kooperation mit mantz design konstruktion die interaktive Ausstellung für das neue Stammhaus der pro aurum GmbH und Co. KG in München.

Der führende Händler von Gold, Edelmetallen und numismatischen Münzen im deutschsprachigen Raum setzt architektonische Maßstäbe.

Die Aufgabenstellung Seriosität und Modernität zu kommunizieren wurden durch Struktur, Form und Wertigkeit in Material und Ausführung eingelöst. Dem Kunden wird klare Orientierung, ein großzügiges Raumerlebnis, aber auch Diskretion geboten.

The Earth is Round! The Image of the Earth in the Middle Ages.

The medieval belief that the Earth was a flat slab floating on the Seven Seas is a modern myth. Already in that era, people were aware that the Earth was round. Only the Universe was conceived as a two-dimensional hierarchy, with God residing above in the Heavens and the Devil below in the depths of the Earth. World maps of the period confirm this perspective.

A production for and with koine cross culture – past and present.

Dass die Menschen im Spätmittelalter glaubten, die Erde sei eine Scheibe, die auf dem Weltmeer schwimmt, ist falsch. Schon damals wusste man, dass die Erde eine Kugel ist. Nur hatte das Universum eine klare zweidimensionale Ausrichtung: es war hierarchisch konzipiert in ein Oben und Unten, mit Gott im Himmel und dem Teufel unten in der Erde. Die Weltkarten der Zeit bestätigen diese Vorstellung.

Endhirsch Music Video Award

For our work on "Forget" by Vania and the Master, we recently won the

"ENDHIRSCH MUSIC VIDEO AWARD (PUBLIC CHOICE AWARD)".

The award, accompanied by a cash prize of 500 euros, was granted on July 10, 2009.

Held for the first time this year, the huge resonance for the event clearly surpassed the organizing committee’s expectations. Nearly 1000 spectators, among them 100 accredited filmmakers and numerous other guests were responsible for the enormous success of the "Grosser Endhirsch" festival.
